Overnight: Luxury Desert Camp

After breakfast, spend the day discovering the different sides of the Merzouga Desert. Instead of simply staying around the dunes, today’s 4×4 excursion takes you deeper into the desert and introduces you to its landscapes and communities.

Begin with an off-road drive toward an old kohl mine, an interesting reminder of the region’s traditional mining history.

Continue to a nomadic settlement where you’ll meet local Berber nomads living in traditional woven tents. Enjoy a cup of Berber tea while learning about their lifestyle, traditions, and life in the desert.

Continue to Khamlia, a village famous for its traditional Gnaoua music and dance. Take time to experience the music and learn about the cultural heritage of the community.

After lunch at a local restaurant, continue through a desert palm grove before heading toward Merzouga Lake, a seasonal body of water surrounded by the desert landscape and sometimes visited by migratory birds.

Later, return toward the Erg Chebbi dunes and enjoy another camel experience or relax around the camp area while watching the sunset.

Spend your second evening enjoying traditional dinner, Berber drumming, and the peaceful atmosphere of the Sahara beneath a clear night sky.
